北回归线：地球上北纬约23.5°的一条纬线，代表太阳在北半球夏至时（约每年6月21日前后）正午可直射到达的最北界线。它也是划分热带与温带的重要地理/天文基准线。

tropic 来自希腊语 tropikos，与“转向、回归”（turning）相关，指太阳在一年中“转向”的位置；Cancer 源自拉丁语，意为“螃蟹”，来自黄道十二星座中的巨蟹座。古代天文学中，太阳在夏至附近位于巨蟹座方向，因此这条纬线得名 Tropic of Cancer（北回归线）。
